Stock futures hold slight edge after CPI

img U.S. stock futures held steady after the government’s consumer price index rose 0.2% in January, just under the 0.3% expected by analysts.

The core rate that excludes volatile food and energy prices held at 0.2%, in line with expectations

Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJH2 +0.31% rose 31 points to 12,901. S&P 500 Index futures SPH2 +0.25% were up 2 points to 1,356.80, while Nasdaq 100 futures NDH2 0.00% were off 2 points at 2,591.50.

“Risk appetite for equities is clearly improving, but as we head in to the weekend we should expect the rally to pause for breath,” said Mike McCudden, head of derivatives at Interactive Investor in London.
